The Beholder's Dreamscape by gautamnair The Beholder's Dreamscape by gautamnair
"The Beholder's Dreamscape"

=========================================
The intent of the piece is to depict the concept of the observer and the observed of the waking life into a dream experience. This concept has been discussed by both quantum physicists and philosophers or free thinkers... where both talk about a change in the perception of physical reality by including the observer as a part of the very system he/she is observing.
Could lucid dreaming be such a state of awareness within the dream world?.. where the observer is also a part of the observed?? The piece is an ARTISTIC depiction of a wanderer of the dream and waking worlds who begins to journey through his dreams fully aware of his state of dreaming.

Very deep image.  Makes you wonder about the nature of reality....

That is excellent, but please, there is no such thing as a quantum physicist. The fields of physics are divided based on what people are actually working with e.g. condensed matter, particles, plasma, astronomical phenomena etc.. Whether or not the stuff you're dealing with involves principles of quantum physics does not come into it.

I'm not sure if anyone has pointed it out, but there seem to be many references to the theory that aliens bestowed knowledge to ancient Egypt. The head at the bottom of the picture is surrounded by blue and gold, as in many sarcophagi. There is also the elongated chin/beard ornament, the pyramidal structure rising up from the head, and the barren desert landscapes set the scene. The central mass that the head looks up at is definitely reminiscent of a flying saucer, with a tapered ring/wings branching out from a circular hub, and a point of lucid awareness at its core. The more I consider it, the more I think it must have been intended...but in reading the artists comments, what seems to be a dominating theme to me isn't mentioned. The piece is beautiful in any case. Browsing your gallery was very enjoyable.

this is great in terms of the observer/observed dichotomy you mentioned. i like how it blurs the lines of those relationships by having numerous potential observers/observees depending on which perspective one might be looking from. also visually stunning as usual.

I've been interested in dreams and dreaming for many years. This piece's intent is right up there, added a new concept along those lines (observing one's self externally internally, for instance), and is just eye candy (it does for my eyes what chocolate does for my mouth).

If you aren't aware of it, a Stanford University professor, Stephen LeBerge has written books about lucidity which includes some of the how-to techniques they've tried in the lab... there is also a growing merchandisy trend, but that can be overlooked, or pursued if that is one's thing.

Good work!

Egg Fucking Zactly.
Here we are, after millenia journeying to the
"place of awe" we finally see the process which invited us all here to begin with, Pure information.

And to think, the mind cannot distinguish itself from dreaming and waking without much focus.
You could say the same of waking, except here you prepare for the transcendence to another dimension of being.

Infinite possibilities through self reflection.
Thanks for your inspiration.

It really is as if you've a tin of dream paint or dream ink and then you produce work like this. They remind me of dreams, those surreal and magical ones you hate waking up from. I cant explain to you how much I admire you and your work. You have a wonderful gift my friend and I look forward to seeing many more of your creations.

Fantastic shading and color choice! I think those new pencils do wonders for you! You finally shift between the darks and lights more. I love how you have blended the mechanical world with the organic world of the dream scape as well. It has a feeling of use taking control of our own dreams through the use of technology - which I am not sure your were going for but I still love the idea. It feels a bit like a dream manufacturing plant too which again, is just my own interpretation and not exactly what you had in mind.

I just love the concept/idea of being able to dream and know that you are dreaming - I have heard of it before and I wish I had that power. Hell, I wish I could just remember some of my dreams

Thanks! The new pencils (apart from doing wonders for me) are friggin expensive and aren't available individually here so i have to conserve every bit now!!
I think we all have the power to be aware of our state of dreaming.. we just have to learn how to unlock it!
